HEADER FORMATTING
The NSF header provides three fields of maximum 31 characters for tune name and composer credits. You can find a header editor in the software section. At 2A03.org their usage is defined as follows:
SONG : <SONG TITLE>
COMPOSER : <SCENE NAME/HANDLE>
COPYRIGHT : <FOUR_DIGIT_YEAR> <REAL NAME>
If the real name of the composer isn't known or he/she prefers to keep it undisclosed, the handle should be used in both the COMPOSER and COPYRIGHT fields.
Two general examples:
Example 1, all information is known:
SONG : Sunken Cathedral COMPOSER : Zabutom COPYRIGHT : 2003 Niklas Sjosvard
Example 2, composer's name is either unknown or undisclosed:
SONG : Ke-Tsu-I COMPOSER : Fukui.cat COPYRIGHT : 2003 Fukui.cat
Example 3, composer's name and year is unknown:
SONG : Snake's Revenge COMPOSER : <?> COPYRIGHT : <?> Konami
Header pointers:
1. People who submit/rip other people's tunes should keep their own name
out of the fields (eg. no "ripped by Cool Guy"). The fields are reserved for
the composer of the NSF file only.
2. The credit fields deal exclusively with the composer of the NSF tune, so in
the case of a cover tune, the original composer is _not_ credited. Example:
SONG : Axel F COMPOSER : Nullsleep COPYRIGHT : 2002 Jeremiah Johnson
3.The string "<?>" (w/o quotes) should be used if the artist, title or similar information is unknown.
4. Don't submit work (unfinished) tunes or unreleased tunes that you may have
gotten directly from the composer without prior permission.
5. In the event that the composer's name (or multiple composers' names in case
of a co-op tune) don't fit in the field, common sense should be applied to shorten the names.
6. Follow the standard english capitalisation rules for field data. Examples:
Correct : "The Way of the Exploding Fist"
Incorrect : "The Way Of The Exploding Fist"
FILE NAMING
You should name your NSF file(s) to the following conventions :
[COMPOSER]_-_[SONG TITLE].[EXT]
A good example would be:
nullsleep_-_my_island_dream.nsf
Filenaming pointers:
1. The filename should NOT contain any capital letters.
2. Don't use spaces in the filename, replace them with underscores instead. ("_")
3. Always use the full composer and song name.
4. Special characters are not allowed.
SENDING
IMPORTANT! : Make sure you specify in your mail body if the tune is original or a cover in case of a scene release!
1. Due to the nature of NSF files it is not really neccessary to zip your files before sending however we do accept compressed files.
2. You are allowed to include only NFO and/or MML files (along with dmc samples) which we may use in the future. Other files will be ignored and deleted.
3. Also make sure if you send multiple songs and additional files we
can identify the corresponding files.
SEND YOUR TUNE(S) HERE : Disabled (remove "NOSPAM" string)
Thanks to the HVSC's ripping and submission guidelines for being a great inspiration for this document :)
